Hi, I'm Kirsten!

Welcome to my website!

My name is Kirsten Magas — that's "I" before "R" — and I am a Philadelphia-based writer, educator, and creator.

This website serves as a professional writing portfolio as well as a place for me to share my creative experience across various mediums — poetry, visual art, and multimedia work.

Publications

My journey began as Features Editor for West Chester University's student-run news service, The Quad. In the years that followed, my writing has grown tremendously and found a home in Philadelphia Style and PhillyVoice

Audio Editing & Podcast Experience

Ariana Alexandropoulos and myself started Lunch Break to replace our midday meals at the office. Grab a snack yourself while you listen to us two coworkers-turned-friends discuss personal struggles, political frustration, media consumption and everything in between.

Freelance Work

Through Fiverr, and volunteering projects, I have worked on ghostwriting and copywriting blog posts with the brands and individuals shown below.

For a Philly-based boutique, ShanPaulo, I put my experience working at a lifestyle magazine to good use, writing blog articles about handbags for the brand to promote the products they sold.

In 2021, I was a copyeditor and writer for femLENS; I wrote and edited several articles, including "A Modern History of Women's Protests" as well as "COVID-19 and 'pink-collar' workers."

Bella Bucchiotti is a travel blogger who writes about more than just travel! I helped her fine-tune many of her skincare articles with my writing abilities and did some ghostwriting for her. Check out "Get Glowing Skin for Back-to-school!"

Experience. Create. Share.

Here is where you can see a more personal medium through which my writing skills come to life. Read about the observations I've made living as a professional creator as well as the growth I have done over the years.

"A news sense is really a sense of what is important, what is vital, what has color and life — what people are interested in. That's journalism."
